After the emotional collapse that follows her mother’s illness, Marusa builds an intense online connection with Alja, a nurse who lives in a small coastal town in Germany. Bonding through humour over their shared struggles, Maruša and Alja quickly develop a close friendship that is put to the test when they finally meet in person.

Newlywed teenagers Danijela and Branko find themselves overwhelmed by wedding traditions. When they feel they can no longer breathe, they decide to run away from their own wedding party into the cold night.

‘Sisters’

After her elder sister Isidora attempts suicide following an argument between two of them, eleven-year-old Petra spends the day in the hospital, hiding from a social worker. Unable to deal with the situation that has befallen her, she wanders through the corridors for hours, thinking about her relationship with her sister and about their family.

‘No Fairy Dust’ is a modern Cinderella that follows Marija, an ice skater who lives with her father on the outskirts of Belgrade. Crushed by grief because her mother died, Marija can’t express her flaming sexuality. Her father gets close to a woman who moves in with her two daughters. Marija supports her father but realizes she can’t trust her stepmother. Because of financial troubles, Marija is forced to find new jobs that introduce her to the world in which women are exploited. Her stepmother has anger outbursts that escalate into fisical abuse. However, the love of the most desirable young businessman gives her strength to accept herself and her sexuality.

When a night guard Sonja Kern wakes up on the floor of a robbed bank vault, she cannot remeber a thing. There is no sign of forced entry, no alarm, and nothing on the security cameras. The only person found inside, she is also the easiest to blame: a broke single mother with a police record. Inspector Deja Kolenc builds the case on instinct, while Maksimilijan Sotler, a coldly precise insurance investigator, approaches the same crime from the opposite side. Slowly, the structure behind the robbery begins to surface, leading to a mayoral campaign, a silence financier, and a document that powerful men will kill for. As Sonja’s memory gradually returns, one beat at a time, she is forced to choose between the truth and the only person she cares about.

In 1991, amidst the Balkan region’s dissolution and prompted by the unfolding events, 6-year-old Maja and her parents, make the decision to jouney from Yugoslavia to Denmark. However, their encounter with the promised land proves to be challenging ordeal for the small family, particularly for Maja. She observes in wonder as her parents desperately try to adapt to an entirely new world with its peculiar rules and traditions. But soon they realize that their new home is far from the fairytale land they dreamed of. Maja witnessing her parents’ difficulties, quickly learns Danish and consequently shoulders the responsibility of an adult to support them.

This personal turmoil and Andrej’s professional life interwine, leading to substance abuse and strained relationships.

It all begins as a typical school trip. A bus, school friends, professors, casual jokes, small excitements, and the well-known temporary sense of freedom children get when traveling. But gradually we start to feel that it is not well in that small community. Daily glances, teasing, and silences hide something nobody wants to talk about. Zoza is burdened by the death of his best friends who committed suicide three weeks before the school trip. When he decides to talk about his school friend’s failure to speak up, their decision to turn their gaze away and about brutal mistreatment of his friend, all attention turns to him.

Tonina, a caring and confident accountant, runs her company together with her husband and daughter, and holds all the strings of the family logistics. Along with all these obligations, Tonina is taking care of her bedridden mother, who is suffering from dementia. Her younger sister Tatjana and her family have a much more easygoing and less ambitious approach to life. The sisters clash when Tonina secretly buys out a part of the family’s island house from a cousin, even though the sisters had agreed to buy it together.

Mirsad is a 62-year-old electrician who was raised and lives in a patriarchal society. His daily routine changes after the sudden death of his wife Enisa. Mirsad stays alone while his grown children live their own lives. As Mirsad tries to get used to a life without his wife, he realizes that he took her for granted and had not given her the love and care she deserved. Mirsad’s relationship with his estranged son worsens after he discovers that the son lives with a male friend.

But when footage exposing violence inside the community is leaked to the public, Dejan-now Branko’s right-hand man-finds himself torn between loyalty to the man and the system that gave his life new purpose, and the demands of his own conscience.

In Livno, a young smuggler nicknamed Struja and his crew transport drugs from Bosnia and Herzegovina into Croatia for a powerful crime boss known as Oluja. Their operation becomes complicated when Bakar’s girlfriend Layla, a Syrian migrant, remains in town with a bag of explosives she was supposed to carry further into Europe. When Bakar refuses to return the explosives, dangerous men arrive in Livno searching for Layla and the bag. What began as a local criminal enterprise turns into a fight for survival, where love, friendship, and loyalty collide with a threat far greater than any of them had imagined.
